The software also supports unique aspects of managing the information lifecycle: acquisition, bibliographic description, serials control, circulation, and interlibrary loan.
Protecting Sensitive Information
Hogan & Hartson places a strong emphasis on protecting our clients’ files in whatever medium they exist. Our security policy includes the use of passwords and authentication which applies to both on premise-based and remote access. Physical access to all of the firm's buildings is controlled, and access to all computer rooms is restricted to authorized personnel. Documents are stored in our document management system with appropriate security levels applied.
All computers have security patches applied in a timely manner and are actively monitored. Antivirus protection is applied and enforced both at the desktop level and at the enterprise server level.
All inbound and outbound e-mail is scanned and suspicious e-mail is blocked or quarantined. The firm offers clients encrypted e-mail at the desktop or server level, where required. We conduct regular security audits of our IT system via a third party vendor, including penetration testing and review and implementation of recommended security best practices.
We have a comprehensive business continuity plan which includes a global incident management team, separate plans for each location, and a premier, off-site data recovery center along with dedicated workspace. Our technology department routinely tests intended recovery capabilities and the plans are routinely maintained. Data is securely preserved and housed daily off-site for recovery.
Partnering With Industry Leaders
We recognize the importance of maintaining positive and active vendor partnerships with major equipment makers and software companies to enable early technology adoption and constant technology improvement. We work closely with industry leaders such as Microsoft, Dell, HP, Westlaw, and Lexis-Nexis.
